The movies have a large fan following ever since. The Delorean has the cool factor and Michael J. Fox was made. TellTale Games put it's signature thumbprint on this long lived and beloved movie franchise to great effect. A lot of reviews I've read contain complaints that TellTale's rigid framework is just that, too rigid for Back To The Future. I think it does a lot to keep the game flowing smoothly and moving along at a good pace. The graphics are nice and clean and a constant framerate prevented any distractions. <spoiler_alert> The twist of Doc Brown's death was very well done, as well as "Emmitt" arguing with his father about being a scientist.</spoiler_alert> All the usual characters are there. Doc, Marty, Biff, Einstein, and of course the Delorean are represented looking almost identical to those portrayals in the movies. The only problem I have with this game is that if you're not a fan of the movies, you're probably not going to get this game at all. There really isn't anything to give someone new to the Back To The Future franchise any backstory whatsoever. In this case, not knowing anything about the Tannen family does take away from the impact of the game's story. This is bringing the franchise to an entirely new generation. TellTale Games are banking on the fact that everyone that plays the game is a BTTF fan. That's a big risk to take, but I still think it'll pay off in the end. I showed the game to my kids and let them watch me play and they were geniously excited to play it themselves. Granted my kids are 9 and 6, and a lot of the puzzles were over their heads. This game was also way way too short. I completed it from beginning to end in less then 3 hours, and that's even including the time it took to figure out the puzzles. I know this is episodic content but take into consideration that Half-Life 2 Episodes 1 and 2 were approximately 4 to 5 hours in length each. I'm fully aware BTTF and HL2 aren't all that comparable, but I'm using this an example of length of gameplay. All in all, being the Back To The Future fan that I am, I enjoyed this game very much. This game is for fans of the franchise, but I still think it's best if you go back and watch the movies to get up to speed first. You'll enjoy this game even more if you do.
